“Here is like Gaza.” These are the haunting words of Hajjar Sarham, a mother displaced from the Nur Shams refugee camp in the West Bank – where escalating military raids have turned once – thriving communities into war zones.
Since October 7, 2023, violence in the West Bank has surged to levels unseen in decades. Israeli drone strikes, house demolitions, and military checkpoints have led to the displacement of over 40,000 Palestinians – the largest wave since 1967.
Some human rights groups have called it the “Gazafication” of the West Bank – a system of control and destruction once confined to Gaza, now expanding into Tulkarem, Jenin, and beyond. UN agencies warn that many of these actions may constitute war crimes.
