Other than scuttling diplomacy between Iran and the United States, the attacks and the ensuing war also created instability in countries that were situated in the crossfire of the flareup. Jordan was uniquely impacted.

In this context, Jordan plays a delicate balancing act of Jordan amid the spiraling Iran-Israel conflict, which has been worsened with the interference of the U.S. Trump administration.

Jordan’s resilience is being tested in rare ways. Economic strains at home, disregard for its role as the custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem, its new humanitarian responsibilities hosting war-torn refugees from Palestine, and a contested strategic partnership with NATO are challenges the country is seeking to navigate.
