Pope Leo XIV in Lebanon

Pope Leo XIV visited Lebanon from November 30 to December 2 as part of his pastoral trip to the Middle East. This was the third papal visit to Lebanon, the Middle Eastern country with the largest Christian population, which accounts for roughly one third of its citizens.

The trip provided a welcome respite amid the nation’s ongoing political and financial challenges, including the economic crisis that began in 2019, tensions and attacks along the southern border with Israel, and persistent internal political divisions.

Many faithful also traveled from neighboring countries, including Syria and Iraq, to participate in the events.
